  • Description
  • A resident breeder which at first sight appears very similar to the House Sparrow. However, males have chestnuts crowns and black streaking beyond the black bib; females are very similar to female House Sparrows but are more streaked with bigger bills. It forms large, often enormous, noisy breeding colonies and feeding flocks that can be seen on farmland and rough cultivated areas away from towns and cities.
