A common winter visitor, and spring and autumn passage migrant. The unique combination of sandy plumage with reddish tail and bright yellow eye make this species unmistakeable. It is equally at home feeding for insects and fruits in bushes as it is flitting about on the ground under the shade of a bush or tuft of grass. It is often see accompanying the Desert Wheatear, with which it shares a unique co-operative relationship.
