A frequent spring and rare autumn migrant. It is a larger version of the Eastern Olivaceous Warbler and a much bolder species which can often be closely approached. It frequently comes to the ground to look around rocks and stones for insects. This behaviour and its habit of calling more readily, a loud short "tcheck", mean it is a much more noticeable bird, despite having dull grey plumage.
